Technology has made dramatic changes in the way we can use the resources of our local library system. Patrons are not limited to the materials available at their local branch; rather, the holdings of the entire, county-wide system is at their disposal. You can select any material you choose, and have it delivered at the branch you designate. When finished, you may return materials at any branch.

Most convenient of all, you can browse through the library system's holdings without leaving home. Link to the library's web site from your personal computer, and spend as much time as you want checking the catalog. If you find something you want to order, you may input the bar code from your library card and order it on the spot. You will get a call when it is delivered to your local library.

If you spend many hours a week traveling or in other activities that largely leave the brain free, consider delving into audio books. The Montgomery County library system has a huge number, including many on the subjects of contemporary politics, economics and history. Again, you can order them online, and pick them up when the library calls.
